Sarah Ruggiero, MS, LCGC

 

Sarah is a Genetic Counselor who specializes in the genetics of epilepsy and related neurodevelopmental disorders. She has a long-standing interest in neurodevelopmental disorders, and worked as a research scientist within multiple laboratories exploring the pathobiology of neurodevelopmental disorders before becoming a Genetic Counselor. Within the Helbig laboratory, she serves as a link between the clinical and research efforts of the Epilepsy Genetics Research Project. One particular area of focus is her work on the gene STXBP1, specifically, better methods to characterize STXBP1-related disorders. She has an MS in Genetic Counseling from Arcadia University, as well as a BS in Neuroscience and BA in English from the University of Delaware.
