Julie Xian

Julie joined the Helbig lab as an undergraduate student in 2019 with an interest in neurology and computational approaches in the field. After graduating from University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Neuroscience, Julie is now working as a data scientist in the lab. She has since become involved in numerous research projects focused on computational phenotypes, reconstructing the longitudinal disease histories in the genetic epilepsies and neurodevelopmental disorders, and leveraging large-scale data derived from the electronic medical records to facilitate the development of learning health systems. Julie is currently working on projects ranging from mapping the natural history of STXBP1-related disorders to developing a comparative effectiveness framework to assess the efficacy of anti-seizure medications. She hopes to continue her research and pursue training through a MDPhD program in the near future.
